ABOUT US
CHURCH HISTORY
Greater United Missionary Baptist Church (GUMBC) has been in existence for over 47 years. Formerly known as United Baptist Church, GUMBC was organized December 14, 1971. At that time membership included 25 adults and their children at New Jerusalem Baptist Church at 1901 East Rosedale Street in Fort Worth, TX, Pastor R. C. Mitchell.
Membership was combined with the United Baptist Church then located at 1820 Glenn Garden Drive in Fort Worth. Rev W.W. Cotton was pastor. On December 14, 1971 Rev. Leonard Chilton Sr. was appointed pastor of GUMBC with Ernest Harper as assistant pastor. In February, 1972 Rev. Chilton assumed the roll as full-time pastor of GUMBC and consented under God to lead our church family on a spiritual and productive path. For the next six months, weekly meetings were held in the homes of many members. Our Church continues to thrive in the City of Fort Worth fully committed to the to Community outreach and contribute both spiritual and physical substance and sanctuary to all.
OUR VISION
To build a sense of love and spiritual growth between the Church and community.
OUR MOTTO
Reach, Sow and Grow.
Reach the people, sow the word, and grow in the spirit.
7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. 8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
